Dr. Ramón Bienes

Ramón Bienes is Senior Researcher in Agronomy and Head of IMIDRA’s Research Group within AGRISOST. His main scientific interests are: uses of cover crops in agro-ecosystems, control of erosion, development of predictive models of soil loss, revegetation processes, restoration of degraded and abandoned land and GIS mapping. Ramón has coordinated 17 research projects funded by different Spanish Public Agencies and participated in 20 research projects related to soil science. He has also participated in 6 research contracts with private companies and worked for international and national agencies (African Development Bank, FAO, AECI) in countries such as Ivory Coast, Cameroon and Argentina.

Dra. Cristina de Lorenzo Carretero

Cristina de Lorenzo is Senior Researcher in Food Quality and Culinary Processes and Director of the Department of Science and Technology Transfer of IMIDRA. Her two main scientific interests are dissemination and transfer of knowledge, and research in the area of food quality and culinary processes, with a strong focus on valorizing local resources. Cristina is member of the Spanish Network of Science and Cooking (INDAGA) and works in close contact with the catering sector and Haute-Cuisine representatives of the Community of Madrid, as well as with producers and the food industry. She devotes her efforts for these activities to promote added value for farmers and food entrepreneurs, with the aim of improving health, nutrition and sensorial excellence for consumers.

Research group profile
IMIDRA Research Group main activities focus on two important needs of the agricultural sector in the Community of Madrid:

  1. The preservation of soil resources and water savings by using cover crops, studying how to reduce soil erosion , the restoration of degraded soils and the incidence of diseases in crops
  2. Knowledge transfer to stakeholders. The group has extensive experience in outreach, dissemination and knowledge transfer. Besides, It organizes demonstration activities in the experimental farms of IMIDRA to show the practical use of new technologies and practices to professionals, students and businesses within the agricultural sector
